Advocates Society, the Association of Polish-American Attorneys has been in continuous existence, serving the legal profession and Chicago area Polish American community and the community at large, since 1931.
Established in that year, the "Polish Lawyers Association," predecessor to the present organization, was issued a Corporate Charter by the State of Illinois on May 9, 1932. On January 4, 1946, the State of Illinois issued a Certificate of Amendment to the original Articles of Incorporation changing the name of the organization to the "Advocates Society."
A Chicago area ethnic bar association, the Advocates Society is comprised of lawyers of Polish descent or with an affinity for the Polish heritage. Membership is available to any person who is authorized to practice law in any jurisdiction or is currently a law student.
The Society engages and actively participates in an extensive program of professional, social and ethnic activities. The Society provides its members with an opportunity to discuss and solve problems of mutual concern; to enhance and develop legal skills and knowledge; and to acquire and develop friendships with persons of common heritage.
